Mara Explorer

Opened in early 2001, Mara Explorer has elevated the art of the African safari to spectacular new heights. This exclusive five-star camp, situated on a thickly forested river in the middle of the Masai Mara reserve, offers guests the ultimate wilderness retreat, where you can watch elephants or giraffes drinking from the privacy of your veranda - or from your own outdoor Victorian bathtub!

Situated in the heart of the reserve, Explorer enjoys prime views of the spectacular wildebeest migration between June and September, and some of the world's most rewarding Big Cat sightings during the remainder of the year.

The accommodation consists of 10 secluded riverfront tents, with optional outdoor bathtubs. There are luxurious bathrooms with modern twin facilities, a full laundry and valet service, and personal tent attendants with radios for tent service.

The camp enjoys an open-air riverfront dining area and an intimate lounge and camp library.

Attractions include walking safaris in the Mara Conservation Area, riverside bush breakfasts, sundowners and dinners, and visits to local villages supported by the camp. Arrangements can be made for transfers for early-morning hot air balloon rides and for Lake Victoria fishing safaris.
