The Funzi Keys

The secluded and private Funzi Island is home to The Funzi Keys, quite simply one of the finest private island resorts in the world.  Surrounded by the Indian Ocean and located on a west facing beach with stunning views of the African sunset, this remote, luxurious and exclusive hideaway is the perfect place to escape from the outside world in style.

Designed to blend unobtrusively with its idyllic beachfront setting and to reflect the influence of the local culture and coastal architecture, the accommodation consists of just eight sea view cottages and nine deluxe beachfront cottages constructed of stone and thatch with large netted windows open to the balmy sea breezes. 

Each of the individually designed rooms has a hand carved king sized four poster bed and is furnished with local wooden artefacts and colourful fabrics.  The deluxe cottages also offer a superb beachfront position and a Jacuzzi with a view! 

At the heart of The Funzi Keys is the informal yet stylish main building where guests can relax and enjoy refreshing drinks served from the dhow-shaped bar or sample delicious island fare featuring freshly caught seafood and locally grown fruits and vegetables in the upper-level restaurant that overlooks the water.

The Funzi Keys is a place of peace and relaxation, a place to unwind on the beach or by the freeform pool whilst local fishing dhows sail by.  That said, there are numerous activities available if you are feeling a little more energetic including sailing, scuba diving, creek fishing, deep sea fishing, windsurfing and canoeing. 

At a slightly gentler pace, you may be tempted to take a cruise up the Ramisi River or Funzi Creek for unforgettable views of kingfishers, crocodiles and even dolphins.
