Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park is a vast habitat with no fences or borders that stretches far beyond its imagined boundary reaching west towards Lake Victoria and north into Kenya.

Dining by the Grumeti River

The park is famous for it endless plains and prodigious wildlife. The numbers here are staggering: 1.3 million wildebeest; 280,000 Thomson's gazelle, 200,000 zebra; 72,000 topi; 32,000 Grant's gazelle; 10,000 eland; 8,500 giraffe; 1,500 lion; 1,000 elephant. Add 500 species of birds and you have a simply spectacular wildlife experience on offer.

This experience is never more spectacular than at the time of the annual migration when a storm of wildebeest and zebra head north to Kenya's Masai Mara pursued by predators all the way who. The herds face their most gruelling challenge at the natural obstacles of the Grumeti and Mara Rivers where they are forced to cross the treacherous waters running the gauntlet of lions, hyenas, vultures and crocodiles.
