Nairobi at night
Nairobi City and
Nairobi National Park
Originally little more than a swampy watering hole for Maasai tribes, Nairobi is now the capital city of Kenya and is its principal economic and cultural centre. One of the largest and fastest growing cities on the African continent, it is the largest city between Cairo in the north and Johannesburg in the south.

In contrast to the peacefulness of rural Kenya Nairobi is a vibrant and bustling city populated by people of many tribes and ethnic origins and is a great place to tune into modern urban African life.
What frequently amazes visitors to Nairobi is that less than 5 miles from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, you will find yourself in the heart of the African bush. Nairobi National Park is exceptionally diverse with habitats ranging from open grassland and acacia scrub to highland forests and rocky valleys and gorges and is home to large herds of zebra, wildebeest and buffalo as well as giraffe, Black rhino, ostrich, hyena, leopard, cheetah and numerous lion. The park also provides a great opportunity to see proactive conservation at work at the Nairobi National Park animal orphanage and the rhino sanctuary, one of Kenya 's most successful in generating stock for reintroduction to the wild.
